Absurd advertising

Just today in Taipei saw an advertising sticker on a couple of buses … advertising for ‘JUN’ or something …

‘Spring and Summer Collection’
‘Where can I buy mosquito repellent?’

That’s a slogan to promote what? Fashion?

There are also pictures of an almost naked man doing some gymnastics moves coming with it …

I guess we have serious creative art directors and copy writers in Taiwan …

If he’s nude he will need more mosquito repellent than if he’s clothed. The solution is buying some fashionable clothes to cover and protect him from the mosquitos.

Isn’t Jun a cologne?

cologne/mosquito repellent.

Going from the smell of some of the women on the MRT, I am sure you could market that.

Even more absurd … and not really helpfull in describing the product … and why would a cologne have a spring and summer collection?

It got you talking about it, didn’t it? You took notice and made the effort to find out what the brand is all about. Although I drive around with my eyes closed most of the time, even I saw that one and wondered about it. And I hate advertsing.

Pretty effective campaign if you ask me. Won’t persuade me to try the stuff, but still a good attempt.

Sure it caught my eye, but not in a good way … and anyways who of the Taiwanese are going to notice, I suppose they just wanted to put some English characters on the poster … and this was the closest to ‘parfume’ … and I’m not going to buy/try it …
