Accessing (geo-blocked) websites

Hello!

What do you use for accessing websites in the US which geo-block Taiwan? (or How?)

Specifically I am trying to access coveredca.com (Covered California) and it keeps blocking me.

Thanks!

Use a VPN? Seems a lot of websites block any ip outside of their coverage area.

Worked for me. I am in Taiwan.

I use a VPN. Works for me.

You need to use a VPN service. Be careful though, some of these services are basically there to steal your information. If you are computer savvy suggest setting up an AWS server and using your own through that but it will require some knowhow to do.

Sorry I should have provided details: The home page of that site works for me as well, but when I try to “Sign In” it fails on me. thanks.

You’re right.

I use Surfshark for stuff like this.

Yes, use a VPN - many countries like to keep foreigners out, sometimes its for copyright reasons, others because of perceived hackers and the like.

My ISP here is Chunghwa (Hinet) and One site in Australia that blocks me says that I am :

Ridin’ dirty Chinese ISP.

I wanna see this. Please share the link @yinggeaussie

Here you go, try it.

I don’t understand why someone would go through all that trouble to make such racist claims while a VPN will get over that easily anyways.

Its probably not the Website, maybe the Hosting company.

No it is some shitty old php block script they use

But you can’t even get into their website. lol

I set my VPN to use random location for that domain and Kansas, US worked. :joy:

May I know what VPN do you use (or recommend)? thanks

I use https://www.vyprvpn.com/ - you do have to pay.

I did intend to try ExpressVPN, but after registering they sent me an email asking for my phone number as they wished to ring me to verify my Billing details - something that they did not mention during signup. I told them to forget it.
