I can’t imagine the predictions there will be any more accurate than other places around Taiwan which is correct only part of the time. They can’t even decide or agree if a typhoon is coming when it’s only a few hours away.
If no typhoon around, then expect a little rain at some point along the way.
Well, Taipei today was gorgeous. And yesterday’s forecast was for rain all day today. Yesterday was gorgeous. And the prior day’s forecast was for rain all day.
If forecasters can’t get Taipei anywhere close to right, I wouldn’t have much hope for an accurate forecast in the (lower) mountains.
My experience on 20 and 9 are that weather inland will only be and usually is worse than the coasts. If the weather reports for Fangshan and Daren are sunny and clear, then plan for at least light rain and fog in the middle. If it is sunny and clear the whole stretch then be pleasantly surprised.
To be fair. I would put the CWB website up at the top of quality public services in taiwan. Yes it varies but anyone who works in the mountains of taiwan knows very well how insanely extreme and unpredictable it is in there. Changes in minutes many times. They already usually have 3 hour updates from many stations. Quite high quality service actually. And in english as well…
