I use ACD FotoCanvas 2.0 and it works pretty well for most of my needs
What image editor do you use? I’m thinking of graduating to something a bit fancier but which one?
There’s Photoshop Elements, Paint Shop Pro 8, Saint Paint, IrfanView (free! possibly very similar to ACDSee) and Ulead PhotoImpact. There are others I know, but these seem like the main contenders.
There is plenty of info about these programs on the Net but I was wondering if any of you guys and gals had ever used one or more of them and what you would recommend.
Oh, sorry forgot to mention one important thing. I am talknig about ACD Fotocanvas 2.0 as opposed to ACDSee 5.0. I also have ACD FotoAngelo for making slide shows but I’ve never used it.
Photoshop, because you can do so many wicked things with it.
I whipped these up the other day.
Made this for my wife, she wanted something really colorful for her desktop.
So I went overboard… big pic (1024x768, 500kb+)
Wow… ni that case I want to get PhotoShop! I hope you mean PS Elements, not the eye-poppingly expensive CS version?[/quote]
I dunno. I just have the regular PS7.

I use The Gimp. It was originally a Linux program, but there is a Window port as well. And it’s free. Despite being free, it’s quite advanced. I haven’t used version 2.0 yet, because it just came out, but I understand it’s even better. I don’t know if it’s quite even with Photoshop yet, but it’s getting close.
GIMP does seem great - advanced and free. There’s a big catch though.
It’s very difficult to install because you first have to download
two programs (possibly 3 ?) in order to install it.
Why can’t the makers just include the installation programs inside
the main program?
