Urgent last-minute question before I board the plane to Taiwan from Canada. Do I need to get any adapter for power outlets?

Actually you will need an adapter but they are cheap and easy to find everywhere. Taiwan does not have grounded outlets so you’ll need a cheater (midwest US term) for your laptop and any other 3 prong device.
Canada uses 120V 60Hz and Taiwan uses 110V 60Hz so you won’t need a transformer of any kind for your appliances.
It also appears that the plug shape is the same. We use type A and B here. I think B is rare.

120 and 110 is close enough… in fact 110 was actually designed for appliances running 100 volts, the extra 10 volt was to account for the voltage drop across long lines.
The weird thing is that almost all outlets are the 2 prong without the grounding thing, yet half of all appliances have 3 prongs. I wonder why they do that? In frustration I usually pull that third thing off because with the adapter you’re still not using the third safety grounds, that adapter was supposed to be connected to a grounding source but good luck finding that here.
I can see why almost all appliances in Taiwan have plastic chassis.
