Taiwan President Chen Shui-bian’s popularity has fallen to a record low of 34 percent after the defeat of his pro-independence alliance in weekend parliamentary elections, a survey released Monday said.
The United Daily News newspaper asked eligible voters: “Are you satisfied with Chen shui-bian?” Thirty-four percent said “Yes,” while 51 percent said “No,” and the rest had no comment, according to the survey taken on Sunday.[/quote]
It looks like Chen’s popularity is going back up according to this earlier news story.
In December his popularity was 34%, and now in January it is 40%. One month after his inauguration in June 2000, his popularity was at its peak, 79% in favor.
