Do you mind if I ask where you bought them from and for how much? I had a look around and all the places I saw they were around the NT$7000 mark back in January. I’m back in Taiwan now so looking for a pair of these for pretty much the exact same reason you have them 
I bought them from the official Sony store at Ganghua digital plaza. I did not know whether it was possible to get them cheaper than the official price (about 11000 NTD) so I took no risks. I guess it was possible to find them cheaper than that?..
I used the foam type of earplugs for 10+ years, they almost always fell out or if they didn’t, were quite painful by the morning.
Last summer I got some custom ones from here:
I couldn’t do without them now, can’t even feel them in my ears. Totally recommended for anyone sensitive to noise whilst sleeping.
They should change their name, like immediately. 
The problem is Chang Gung Hospital Linkou and Guishan are both located in Guishan, Taoyuan. (A8 is the nearest MRT station)
A8 (south of highway) should be Guishan, Taoyuan.
A9 (north of highway) should be Linkou, New Taipei.
But due to Chang Gung Linkou, people often associated A8 as Linkou as well.

Yep, those are the ones. I sleep on my side. It did take a week or so to get used to wearing them, but now I don’t notice them at all.
Mine are a few years old now and don’t have the pull tabs. I would prefer pull tabs as that would definitely make it easier to remove them.

I think I’ve probably gotten used to noise… my place has single glazed windows and is on a main road.
I need to use earplugs sometimes due to the fat twat of a neighbor that sometimes stays up until 5am giggling and probably sat in a gaming chair gaming.
I remember it was around 3500NT, purchased just over 2 years ago.
Do you have any problems in combination with your earwax, since they go quite deep?
This is slightly off-topic, but I think it’s also possible to train yourself to be less sensitive to noise. I saw a TV program the other day about Buddhist meditation, and they had some brain wave sensors connected to a monk and to some random person, then compared the brain activity when a loud bell was rung repeatedly. The result was that the monk showed basically no change, while the random person showed increased activity when and after the bell was rung.
No problems so far.
Sony XM5s are slightly better imo. Although I’ve heard both do better in blocking out certain frequencies.
