Sorry, I am not sure what AF353 is. I tried searching Google in both English and Chinese but did not come across any meaningful information. My memory is a bit foggy but I vaguely remember that there are multiple types of ARCs, one of which would permit working and one of which would not.
By the way, I still have my Taiwan passport with no ID number in it. Like you, I am an Overseas Chinese therefore we need to obtain some type of permanent resident status (ARC) in order to reside in Taiwan for prolonged periods of time. The only benefit of being an Overseas Chinese is that we are ELIGIBLE for naturalization (into a citizen). For me unfortunately, this passport sits on the bookshelf collecting dust since I do not intend to naturalize, at least in the foreseeable future.
I do not know your age or gender but I wish to point out that in my case, the citizenship process would’ve been extremely tedious because I am male & was over 20 when going through this (about two years ago). If you’re under 20, I would encourage you to look into naturalizing instead of ARC. Last I heard, it takes about 1 week to process naturalization paperwork if you’re under 20. Of course you’ll also have to weigh the pros and cons, especially if you’re male. Good luck.

ah ok. do overseas chinese must hold a stamped from their passport? how will i know if there’s a stamped on my passport? i’d already apply for ARC AF353 is my code. i don’t know what the code means? im over 20 years of age already.
