Hi , Iam looking for African restaurant [or bar] in Taipei city/county , thank to let me know !
There is a South African (it IS African, right) restaurant of sorts in Hsin Yi Road. I donât have the address, but itâs about a 10-minute walk from the the Tavern Premiere heading away from Taiwan 101.
is the moroccan place still around?
thanks I will check that place !
Is the S African fish house still open? I went by a month ago and it looked pretty closed!
Hope itâs still open, as might be a fun place to try out. Restaurants here come and go â there was a little shark restaurant which unfortunately folded before I could check it out.
If youâre looking for variety, I would suggest the Xinjiang restaurant near zhong xiao East Rd and Yan Chi Jie.
I knew this place once where they served some fantastic couscous with lamb. But that was 4 years ago. Itâs near the Brothers Hotel on Nanjing Rd. Donât know the name of this joint tho. Iâd drop by this weekend to see if itâs still running. Will let u know.
great, if itâs still open after 4 years must be good value for money.
cheers
I believe they have an outlet at one of the Mitsukoshi buildings in Xinyi (opposite Warner Village), on the outdoor terrace of the first building on the right (when looking from the cinema side). At least there was one the last time I was walking around there.
Youâre about 15 years too late, Saxo. Once upon a time (and this will break the heart of many a homesick South African who was not here to enjoy it) there was a branch of Nandoâs on Nanjing East Rd/Tunhwa North Road. Iâd guess that it didnât even last a year - but it was a proper Nandoâs with the menu just like youâd find it in the RSA. The peri-peri chips and chicken were awesome.
Add poor Nandoâs to the long list of failed fast food franchises in Taiwan. It has done very well establishing franchises in other parts of the world, though.
If I had to vote for one South African chain to open in my neighborhood now, it would be Anant Falafel & Shwarma. Never pass through Johannesburg International Airport without getting at least one of their excellent falafels. Though, for anyone who has ever been to Israel, Anant is just âokayâ.
