Air pollution levels in Taiwan - grim reading

As you have figured out, the wind direction changed, as expected, today.

This sure beats having that filth in the air!

So u not a vampire???

I can’t [edit] the post. Apologies folks. The quote [function] also switched upside down. Im too [old] for phone shit. I wonder if I did voice to text, would it be better…hahaha? I love how everytime I shit on the meaning of words, it’s the most nonsensical typo storm I have ever written. Is what it is lol. Weekend is over… […] equal just now, typing slow and making sure, the phone did not insert those words. A recurring theme with Samsung phones I have owned.

So, here is the edited version, typos fixed :hugs: :

If we think ABC company is the root cause of all these well know objective realities, and yet we purchase their products. We ourselves are extremely complicit. Quite frankly, this becomes a chicken or the egg type philosophical discussion. Yet, it isn’t because we aren’t that ignorant, just selfish. We are all then guilty and the solution becomes SUPER easy. But, we won’t try and solve it. They won’t either. Point fingers back and forth. Enjoy the diseases, I guess :wall:

Definition of retardation. Or lack of intelligence. Or sumthun

No I am actually totally ok with pointing fingers at the govt for doing fuck all to improve traffic pollution.

They are doing things, like improving public transport with more mrt’s, more convenient bus transport by electronic boards at the bus stops, modernization of the bus fleet etc. But they are definitely not doing enough, lots of room for improvements

I’d add: youbikes for free (30 minutes) in Taipei / Xinbei. That is something, maybe not enough, but I think more than ā€œf&&& all.ā€

Traffic pollution is very much not the top concern, overall, in my opinion. But it’s the one that the public is guilty of causing themselves, so it gets more attention.

Industry is far worse.

2 wrongs never equal a right, however, so we should be focusing on fixing all of them.

Based on the temperature drop, the wind direction has shifted again.

A nice breeze from Shanghai

Shanghai surprise…

Fuck all also means very little. Which is the truth. They are doing the bare minimum.

What good is youbike when your only choice is to breathe toxic fumes when riding it?

A data point to support your position: the share of electric scooters actually DROPPED recently as some forms of subsidy dried up! So now there is a higher percentage of noisy polluting petroscooters on the road. :slightly_frowning_face:

Which will come as no surprise if you have talked to the average ah bei. They see no sense in gogoro etc when the gas option is cheaper. Thats what it comes down to.

Incoming…

Meanwhile, the Ministry of Environment warned that the incoming cold air mass will also carry transboundary air pollutants into Taiwan starting Tuesday.
Due to haze over eastern China, air quality nationwide is expected to deteriorate to an ā€œorange alertā€ level, meaning it is unhealthy for sensitive groups, it said.
