Why?
Because:
“The Port of Seattle welcomes today’s announcement as Delta continues to build on SEA’s status as a hub and its West Coast gateway to Asia,

Delta Airlines has more departures than China Air or EVA has from TPE, that will tell you why Delta choose Tacoma-Seattle Airport

Lol I left off half of the sentence and you can’t follow?? Whoops…in my defense I deleted and then retyped and then deleted and I got careless lol.

Meant to ask does your friend work for the NYC govt. But I’m assuming not and our friends are not the same person.

No my friend does not work for the NYC government (well as far as I know, lol) though he studied in NYC.

With or without a government job, I admire his moxie and joie de vivre in booking that ticket!

Delta is back! The new SEA-TPE route is now operational.

A bit disappointing to see rather old equipment used on this route—the Airbus A330. Delta claims they plan to upgrade to a nicer A350 in Spring 2025.

They are using the a330-900 neo version so the planes are like 3-5 years old with new cabins

Got it. Thank you for the correction.

That sounds better than old A330s flying transpacific. The last time I did that was in the mid 2000s on Cathay Pacific’s Toronto - Hong Kong route before Cathay acquired some lovely new B777-300ERs—a complete game changer.

Accidents while taxiing should never happen. Was the soon-to-be-ex-pilot drunk?

Having seen the videos and read preliminary reports, it’s hard to see how this incident could be the fault of the Delta pilot with the plane reportedly stationary and apparently awaiting de-icing.

This means it was either the fault of the Japan Airlines pilot OR air traffic control was sending that JAL plane somewhere it shouldn’t have been going.

EDIT: This report indicates that because the planes were close to the concourse, air traffic control was not involved with the movement of the planes.

Another major Delta Air crash, it’s upside down maybe from ice/snow?
