Sorry folks, I am just too excited: I AM FINALLY FOR THE FIRST TIME EVER GOLD WITH BR (in general with any airline)!!! Not even planned, it just happened that with the right combination of flights (and an incredibly lucky cheap(er) biz return flight to Europe with TK) I managed to get over the 50K status miles in 12 months required to qualify. ![WhatsApp Image 2025-01-09 at 17.30.37](https://forumosauploads-12829.kxcdn.com/original/3X/6/1/615d0aa132cd569aecc02ecfdb2da2416dd28d73.jpeg) End of the Spam. Very nice! What benefits do you get with gold with Eva and star alliance? I believe diamond is the next level for EVA? I remember dad had it. I had the one below gold when I was younger flying back and forth from the US to Taiwan. ---

Nice. I just got silver recently but they still haven’t sent me the physical card for some reason. Plan to get gold next year. The real benefit of this (for me) is good lounge access for self and guest. With it I’d be able to access the maple leaf lounge in YYZ instead of plaza premium, for example. ---

Right, last time I was business so got the priority tag anyway. Btw did you know they’re crippling credit card access to the garden starting March? Business class redeemed with points or upgraded with points will no longer be enough, in combination with the amex plat or cathay supreme infinite card, to get into the lounge. Uhm, need to read better later. TBH only good things of that lounge are: very quiet and full service bar. The food is just slight better than the star/infinity. Also, it only has 1 shower and 1 toilet!!! More convenient to enter the other 2, they are all mediocre at best anyways ---

Yeah the main perk is the exclusivity. Seems like all the other lounges are full and chaotic. ---

I seem to remember diamond has its own check in lounge in Taoyuan? But I don’t think it goes directly into the gates with its own security check in if I remember correctly. To me this is the biggest perk for me in FF programs. The ability to get into the gates and lounges within minutes of arrival really takes the stress off travel. Especially during peak periods. ---

@silly.putty I was checking again about this, and it is funny. Besides crippling the lounge access to the Garden to only full fare paid J class tickets, they are also taking away the BKK lounge access perk: ![Screenshot 2025-02-27 at 09.37.44](https://forumosauploads-12829.kxcdn.com/original/3X/4/3/433a162ea67bfbbf466e0e9045b4c58b7c5319f5.png) But I see that they added the access to the super small combined lounge at TSA. Now that they opened a plaza premium at TSA (yet to check it out, will do ASAP through the Priority Pass with my Amex), finally staying more than 30 mins at TSA might not be a pain. The above applies only to the Cathay United cobranded cards (specifically the top tier one), Checked also the Amex BR Platinum section and they haven’t changed the policy access to the Garden lounge. As long as you fly BR metal in J (no matter what fare type), you can access it. But, interestingly, also here no more mention of BKK lounge: ![Screenshot 2025-02-27 at 09.41.00](https://forumosauploads-12829.kxcdn.com/original/3X/e/1/e1d71909546cb12582882f4ef059a49dfd0dd0b7.png) I have to say that during LNY when we were at the BKK lounge on our way back to TPE it was a bit full in the front area, while the back area still had quite a few seats. I understand they want to keep it livable (all lounges at TPE during LNY were packed, they put us into the club even if both my wife and I are gold and my parents-in-law were flying J), but with a 36.8k p.a. fee card I would really like to get into the lounge of the cobranded airline (shame on Esun bank that gives a cobranded card with no lounge access with JX, I understand the fee is way cheaper, but not even providing a paid in access is just sad, not even the world elite which has a 100K annual fee!!! bonkers! and it comes with a meagre 18x p.a. dragonpass lounge access, a joke). anyways, happy to have status now and will do my utmost to keep it, I do see a trend of cutting lounge perks on all cards, we did reach an absurd point (especially in the States) where no lounge was usable and had to line up constantly. Very few cards will keep some decent lounge perk like Priority Pass (or Amex with its own centurion, but they are already putting spending threshold to enjoy it…) ---
