They will now codeshare with Alaska Airlines which seems like a deliberate attempt to partner with another one world member. Alaska airlines is owned by American Airline. AA is a founding member of OneWorld.

right now, Japan Airlines (oneworld) has codeshares with China Airlines (SkyTeam)

it sounds evil, but I hope this relationship can be broken soon so there are less potential barriers for Starlux to join oneworld

it’s not JL the blocker for Oneworled, it’s CX.

But, there are already some rumors of CX leaving Oneworld, possibly moving to Star alliance to align with their overlords: CA (Air China), who is getting more and more stake in the company.

If that happens, it’s basically signalling a merger of Air China and Cathay Pacific.

RIP. :slightly_frowning_face:

Was really looking forward to taking them this coming summer to Seattle abd the Alaska further into the US to visit family, but what made me pivot to EVA was departure and arrival times.

Starlux currently only offers flaights that depart at 2am for Seattle. With kids, not going to do it.

I hope they can have more flights so more options.

FYI: Alaska Air is not owned by American Air, Alaska Air stock trades on the New York Stock Exchange (I have a few shares of it). Alaska market value of the company is not far from American Air (AAL). By Market Cap (Market Value) , Delta is most valuable Airline by a big margin.

Ahh I got confused. I saw American airline but they meant like an American airline company not AA

Delta is supposedly the best and a premium airline in the US but I found it just as bad as all the other US airlines.

I swear all the major US airlines got together behind the scenes and said let’s just all agree to cheap out on everything like shit food so we don’t have to compete in premium extras that cut into costs.

With the amount of money in the US. You’d think there would be a market for a premium airline but somehow they’re all terrible.

Delta is probably the least bad among the major US airlines. I agree though that “less bad” is not the same as “very good.” :joy:

Regarding Starlux:

In July, I booked a flight with them to Malaysia at the end of December and back from Singapore at the start of January.

A couple of days ago, I received two emails “STARLUX Flight Status Change Notification” telling me that they postponed my flight to the next day (well, they just said “Please see the updated flight information below” and if paying close attention, one can notice that the day has been changed - very easy to miss, though…).

Not a frequent flyer, but this is the first time something like that has happened to me. I’d guess with Starlux being a “newish” airline on the market, there is probably a higher chance of those things happening.

Similar thing happened to me on the KUL-TPE flight last year! They changed the arrival time from 8pm to something like 11:30pm, drastically changing the transit situation for me to get home from the airport (not in Taipei). I couldn’t do anything though, they only had one daily frequency at the time.

unfortunately it happens… for sure they can improve readability of those notifications
