Thinking back to TSA back in the 70s before I left from there for the first time in a PAL DC8 bound for Manila to transfer to their DC10-30 for the onwards flights to Guam (technical stop in the middle of the night for fuel , no leaving the aircraft during the stop) and Honolulu where we did have to get off and have all our luggage offloaded Io go through US customs as Hawaii means we entered the USA. The Honolulu to SFO flight right after being considered a domestic flight
Prior to that learning what a 720 was , that it wasn’t a 707 but did look like one. A very beautiful classmate of mine who I had a secret crush on who’s dad happened to be my moms boss who was leaving on one back to the USA told me it was a 720 when I asked her what plane she would be on. I really didn’t know what to say to her.
And I gave her a silver belt my great grand uncle had brought from Bangkok
Don’t think she ever knew I had a secret crush on her …. that secret remained a secret….until well maybe now….now that it doesn’t matter
And seeing one of my best buds off to take one of those Cathay Pacific Super TriStars to Hong Kong and onwards to London to further travel onto the USA with his family…. A long ways home indeed.
His cat having travelled the other way eastwards by pet service to their home in Alabama
This friend luckily remains one of my best friends to this day
This was Cathay Pacific’s theme song back then
Sorry I digress nobody asked
But airports hold memories
