Al-Qaeda and Taliban threaten Germans, Europeans elections

and tries to influence the German elections.
Bin Laden warns Europe of retaliationOMAR SINAN

Osama bin Laden has demanded in a new audiotape that European countries pull their troops out of Afghanistan, warning of “retaliation” against them for their alliance with the United States in the war.

The audiotape, just under five minutes long, was posted on Friday on Islamic militant websites. It comes after a series of al-Qaeda videos this week directly addressing Germany, threatening attacks over that country’s involvement in Afghanistan. Those videos featured a little-known German-Algerian militant and have raised concerns among German authorities ahead of parliamentary elections.

Bin Laden predicted that American forces will soon pull out of the country, abandoning their European allies, and warned that al-Qaeda will then retaliate against them. It was not clear whether his threat was aimed at European troops in Afghanistan or against European countries themselves.

“It won’t be long before the war’s dust in Afghanistan clears out, and you will not find a trace of an American (soldier) … and it will be only us and you left,” he said, addressing Europeans.

“How do think you will fare after America pulls out - Allah permitting - allowing us to retaliate from the oppressor on behalf of the oppressed?” he said.

There’s also been several videos this week trying to influence the German election. Is anyone following the story?

Poor Germans, in between a rock and a hard place.

It sux that Al Q is using the same methods of swinging an election in India or Indonesia or Afghanistan against Europeans now.

No way is Europe going to stand for this.
Bekkay Harrach, alias Al Hafidh Abu Talha al Almani, resurfaced Friday in a chilling new video produced by al Qaeda’s al Fajr Media Center and distributed across the major jihadi Web forums. Dressed in an ill-fitting black blazer, blue tie, and shoulder-length greased hair - looking more like a teenager dressed for his first job interview - he slammed Germany for its military presence in Afghanistan and
warned that if Chancellor Angela Merkel is reelected on Sept. 27, Germany will be directly attacked.

“God commands us in the Qur’an - Al-Anfal, verse sixty - that we must do what we can to force our enemy to surrender,” he stated. “But if the enemy can find a peaceful solution… the Holy Qur’an commands us to forgive.” According to his statement, Germany’s only option to avoid an attack is to withdraw its forces from Afghanistan.

His previous warning to Germany, on Jan. 17, 2009, coincided with a massive car bomb attack on the heavily guarded German embassy in Kabul that was orchestrated by the notorious Haqqani Network. Four Afghan civilians and an American soldier died in the attack.

Jesus. What could anyone have against Merkel?

He’s so young to be throwing his life away.
The threat videos, made by al-Qaeda’s media production arm, warn of an impending attack within two weeks of the elections if troops are not withdrawn.

Harrach is on a list of Germans considered a security threat
Al-Qaeda’s leadership may be hoping to repeat what happened in Spain’s elections five years ago when multiple train bombings killed 191 people.

Soon afterwards, the Spanish government of Jose Maria Aznar, that had sent troops to Iraq, was defeated at the polls.

German political figures have reacted to the videos by denouncing al-Qaeda’s attempts to dictate voter behaviour.

Newspaper editorials have also mocked the appearance of the speaker on the videos, a 32-year-old Moroccan-born German national and resident of Bonn.

Harrach, who studied laser technology in Germany, is believed to have travelled to wage violent jihad in the West Bank, Iraq and Waziristan.

He is reported to be on a list of around 100 German nationals thought to be a security threat and the authorities there are taking his warnings seriously.

I just don’t think Germany is the kind of country that would let itself get bullied like thiat. I imagine this would make people even more distrustful of AL Q.

Man, al-Qaeda is a real force in international politics!

Pretty much.

I found a pretty neat thread on an Islamin pro-jihad forum about it>

They say stuff like this:
Assalaamu alaykum,

My advice to Muslims is stay aware from places where straight kuffar hang out (i.e. night clubs, etc.) or where their leader are (i.e. gov’t bldings or police station). Or maybe you might wanna hang out a good distance away with your camera.
and this:
salaam.
Mashallah. we pray for that the this attack will be successful. and make Islamic ummah more strong.
“o Allah send force on these kuffar and defeat them with all u power”…ameen

It’s so sad to see Europe in this situation.

You say Europeans wouldn’t stand for this, but Spain caved a few years ago. Europe is reaping the whirlwind right now. Expect an even greater rise of the right if this happens.

I can’t see what the point of an attack in Germany would be though. It would be to overplay its hand and cause a backlash while Europeans still have the vitality, and thus ability, to fight back. If Islam wants to fuck Europe, it just has to wait less than fifty years for the inevitable demographic victory.

Indeed. Why fuck with the fundraising vat, until it’s been bled?

Still too early to tell if Al Q and the Taliban haver influenced the election or not.

It still trips me out to see Al Q and the T’Ban working together on something. :ohreally:
Germans vote amid economic worries, terror threats
By MELISSA EDDY (AP) – 24 minutes ago

BERLIN — Germans voted Sunday on whether to give Chancellor Angela Merkel a second term at the helm of Europe’s largest economy, as the country faces rising unemployment and threats by Islamic extremists over Germany’s role in Afghanistan.

Merkel is hoping enough of the nation’s 62.2 million eligible voters support her conservative Christian Democratic Party so she can dissolve her current coalition with the leftist Social Democrats and form a center-right coalition with the pro-business Free Democrats.

Security was tight Sunday across Germany, following a rash of threats by Islamic extremists who threatened retaliation if Germany does not pull its 4,200 troops out of the NATO mission in Afghanistan.

Two threatening videos surfaced Friday — one by al-Qaida and another by the Taliban. The Taliban video showed top German landmarks like the Brandenburg Gate in Berlin and Munich’s world-renowned Oktoberfest beer festival.
In response to the extremists’ threats, authorities on Saturday banned all flights over Oktoberfest until it ends on Oct. 4. The annual 16-day beer festival draws some 6 million visitors from around the globe.

I am not right with threatening Octoberfest.

Germany will be fine. I predict there will be no acts of terrorism at all, no matter how the election turns out.

Yeah, I was so scared I voted for Pirate Party instead of Merkel. Man, this towel-wearing guy scares the sh… out of me.
Germany: Man With Explosives Is Held

In a sign of continuing fears of a possible terrorist attack, the police arrested a man who possessed what appeared to be a small quantity of explosive material and a homemade electronic detonator. The authorities took the man, a dual German and Turkish citizen whom they identified as Adnan V., 24, into custody on Thursday after searching an office in Frankfurt and an apartment in nearby Offenbach. According to prosecutors, the man is suspected of spreading propaganda for Al Qaeda on the Internet. The Munich police increased security around the Oktoberfest beer festival and arrested two men from Arab countries last Saturday.

Well, at least they didn’t blow anything up.

I like the way germany arrests terrorists every few months and nobody gets hysterical over it.

Well this is not cool, not cool at all.
Jihadi Web forums have been abuzz with anticipation over the likelihood of an al Qaeda attack against Germany, with jihadi supporters speculating eagerly over potential targets, dates, timings, and even casualty numbers.

A blogger going by the name “Yaman Mokhaddab” posted what he claimed was “Western intelligence” giving 13 hints about the upcoming attacks, warning that they would be much worse than 9/11.

On the popular al-Fallojah forums, “Mohami al-Dawla” speculated Thursday about how many would be killed and the economic damage that would be inflicted. He speculated confidently that we are likely to witness the first WMD attack in the history of modern Jihad.

I wish I could read German to look at some of those forums.

Al Q isn’t known for not carrying out its threats.

If I prayed, I’d pray for Germany. Peace, everyone. :frowning:
