With confirmation of Judge Samuel Alito as the next Supreme Court justice all but assured, Democrats seized upon this

I don’t think Alito’s confirmation really does anything for the democrats. Bush had already screwed things royally with the Miers appointment. Alito isn’t exactly someone the mainstream is going to get upset about, since he’s moving up the chain from being a circuit judge, and not too far out of the mainstream. The democrats can capitalize on all kind’s of other things going on in Washington, but Alito’s confirmation doesn’t really add much.

For the past several years libs have been saying every other week, “Finally, we’ve got dirt to bring Bush down.” And yet, each time, Dems lose elections. They thought they had him with all the books. They though they had him with no WMDs. They thought they had him with Michael Moore. They thought moveon.org could bring him down. They went after Karl Rove. They faked memos. They brought out the national guard. They thought Club Gitmo would do it. They thought Abu Grihab would do it. They think the NSA thing will do it. They thought the CIA agent leak … on and on and on and on. And a lot of this stuff gets recycled too from quarter to quarter.

I say, bring it on. The more this happens, the more they loose elections. The reality is that Bush is not running for office again, and since the Dems have NOTHING of their own to offer, they think that attacking Bush will help them win elections. Not a great strategy, but … bring it on. The more the better.
