Have you considered the risks to the local feline population in all of this? I can envision a conversation going something like this:
“Oh, those foreigners, they eat cat meat all the time. The bignose with the pizza place has them flocking to his door, and advertises it openly.”
“So, you think this idea of a hanging-cat-meat restaurant is really that great of an idea?”
“Yeah, we’ll get all the bignose traffic, and that’ll lure in the sycophants. We can’t lose!”
Don’t ask a bunch of foreigners; they’re very unlikely to know what to come up with. Chinese has too many linguistic puns and cultural innuendos. Explain what you want to some Chinese speakers.
Also, consider getting a different name in Chinese (ie not Alleycat). That’s done a lot, and frequently makes sense if something doesn’t translate right (though I am not saying any of the suggestion aren’t right).
