American Riding requirements/laws - Lane splitting

I was reading a thread somewhere else about lane splitting (going between cars or sharing a lane), and it’s amazing how angry people back home get when bikers do it.

One time in Canada my friend saw a bike lane split to go to the front. Some guy got out of his jeep and walked up to the biker and punched him off of the bike. I also read about many bikers saying people throw open their doors…throw coffee out their windows…etc. Crazy.

Here is a neat link which shows which states lane splitting is legal…as well as other neat things like eye wear (it’s illegal to wear open faced helmet without glasses) and helmet laws. Also notice how daytime lights are “required”.

In Taiwan that’s not a problem, even cars share lanes.
