Beard trimmers are really easy to find in Taiwan. Just check any of the 10NT stores or those variety stores that carry all kinds of pots and pans and household things. They usually have a few different models at different prices and of varying quality. I’m already on my fourth one so it’s worth it to buy a decent, sturdy one. The dog trimmer sounds like a good idea, too.

Turns out that Andis and Wahl are the two brands making the highest quality beard trimmers; they’re what the pros use. I guess if you want one to last more than a couple years, you might want to consider one of these brands, and a corded model, as rechargeable batteries eventually wear out (and in some cases, replacing them requires soldering). Both are available on eBay, for instance, and the smaller Wahl peanut will run you less (even after shipping) than a lower quality consumer model at an overpriced store in Taibei.
Costco has a model on sale now for NT$825, I just bought one and will report back. It comes with three different heads and two comb attachments.
It’s a Remington PG-400, comes in a huge box with just about nothing in it… :loco:
The stand isn’t the same as on that picture, and it doesn’t come with the foil shaver, but the rest all looks the same.
Looking good so far, but need to try it out first, so that won’t be until tomorrow…
Ok, tried it out and it’s working great. Nice and light and the trimmer attachments are just the right height. For the money this is a great deal for a beard trimmer here.

What is an electric beard?
I’ve had numerous beard trimmers over the last three decades, and the Wahl peanut corded model is my favorite so far. The cordless Remingtons and Norelcos seemed designed to break after a year or so, or when the rechargeable batteries wore out, the manufacturers said it ‘wasn’t cost effective’ to change them and recommended buying a new unit. 
The Wahl doesn’t have as large a range of comb (guard) lengths, but happens to have one at the length I like, so it’s fine for me.
Speaking of batteries, was trimming my beard the other day and the battery was running low. Figured I could just plug in the power adapter and use it that way, yeah right… It turns out that the power adapter is only for charging the trimmer, it doesn’t actually power it :loco:
Is it really that hard to do a product that works both ways? My electrical shaver does, so why can’t a bread trimmer work in the same way?
Bread trimmers don’t need electricity, just a whetstone.

I’ve had one of those Wahl ones for better than 10 years, it still works like a damn.
I use it like weekly on my beard and on my head whenever I want the Statham.
You know what the secret is to making them last forever?
Oil the shit outta the blades.
About every 4 uses, after I clean it, I just drench the cutting blades in machine oil.
SOB works like I just bought it yesterday.
Yup, a drop or two of oil on the blades after every few uses. The manual says daily, I think, but that’s for professional use I imagine.
I have a pet trimmer. My third, I think. Works like a charm. Costs NT$400 from the pet shop. Or NT$4,500 from Sogo for the exact same thing with a Braun label on it.

I’ve had a conair for almost ten years and it will probably last forever just like the Wahl. Just add a couple of drops of household oil (pretty much anything you have will do) each time. The best part is that it comes with 8 lengths of guards so I don’t look like I’m in the army after a haircut.
