Another contract issue

Hello,

I accepted a contract due to uncertainty from COVID. I tried negotiating with the school about the hours and I’m more than willing to stay if they can remove some of them. I told them several times that I cannot handle the hours given to me. They were willing to find a teacher. However, they changed their mind. They asked me to hold onto it. I am unable to fully handle my duties as a teacher because I feel overwhelmed. I gave them my resignation by email, but they are still asking me to hold off. Legally, what is the amount of time needed before they can find a replacement? I gave them my resignation by email. Should I give them a formal letter?
What will happen moving forward in terms of an
ARC and finding a new job?

Appreciate any feedback,
Thank you.

How many hours?

Hi Rectify.

Additional questions:

  1. What kind of school is it? (Buxiban? Public school? Private school?)

  2. What does your contract say about termination? If your employer also has work rules (工作規則, “employee handbook”, that kind of thing), what do the work rules say about termination?

  3. Do you suspect your employer is violating the contract or any applicable labor laws or regulations?

  4. Have you talked to the labor department in the city/county where you work?

There are several threads already about contract termination. :mag:
