That’s it! GOP state reps shouldn’t be allowed to adopt children.

Despite his legal difficulties, I hear that he’s still a man with a lot of “klaudt” in the GOP in that state – lots of connections and favors owed and coming due. Given how long Foley was able to get away with his antics, I’d like to know whether and for how long Klaudt’s party was covering for him.

Klaudt was indicted on 4 of the charges in one of the counties where he was apparently raping kids, but now he’s free on bail to continue his activities thanks almost certainly to his insider connections with the state GOP. Does he have some good connections with Republican State Attorney General Larry Long that let him out free to screw other children, or is more of the sort of widespread support for pedophilia we’ve already seen among GOPpers as diverse as Mark Foley, Ted Hastert and other top Republicans.

UPDATE: As opposed to the mere “moral” support that Hastert supplied Foley in hiding Foley’s pedophilia, Ted Klaudt gets actual legal support from the state’s house speaker.
House Speaker Thomas Deadrick, R-Platte, accompanied Klaudt in court Friday, saying he was acting as Klaudt’s lawyer only for Friday’s court hearings.

“I’m here as a friend who happens to be a lawyer,” said Deadrick, who served four years with Klaudt in the House. (Argus Leader newspaper article – available by Google cache)
