Man was in Taiwan for the second time. In his own words:

- Went to Taipei and all the way to Kending.
- Taiwan is the only tourist destination he’s ever seen with no beggars, no thieves, and no discrimination.
- They are basically Japanese people who speak Chinese (whatever that means).
- The food doesn’t completely conform to his taste, but overall the prices were reasonable.
- There are weird smells at night markets.
- Will go back again.

Take him to Kiki or to Kao Chi in Taipei and I suspect this person would be happy.

The sweeter angle of some foods in the south though would be a step too far for some folks from Korea.

Overall though I’m glad this person had a good time. All things considered, Taiwan is pretty awesome.

As you specifically posted in the “Discrimination in Taiwan” sub-forum: So what you’re trying to say is that no discrimination exists in Taiwan…?

Proven by a random Korean YouTuber :whistle:

The second contradicts the first - Japanese are extremely discriminatory, but they’re polite about it, (just like Taiwanese). 😂

And if he saw no beggars then he just didn’t look very far. 🙃

Really? Taiwanese make an X with their arms and say “gaijin dame” at foreigners?

Despite speaking Mandarin, I’ve been chased out / denied service by a boss of a Chinese restaurant in the Yongkang Street area of the Taipei City. He had no interest whatsoever in my custom.

I guess you CAN prove a negative!

I prove negatives all the time.

Prove 2+2!=5

2+2=4

4!=5 by definition

2+2!=5 by transitivity

1. Not that impressive considering how small the island is, and how easy it is to get anywhere from south to north within a day.
2. I guess he didn’t come across the foreign buskers from predominantly Eastern European countries playing bad music and offering hugs (no one wants) for money. Though yes, overall Taiwanese are less racist/nationalist than Koreans… but that’s partly because Koreans are super racist.
3. Probably not a compliment as the Koreans HATE Japanese. In general, anyway.
4. Not enough tongue numbing and fermented kimchi I guess.
5. Yes, stinky tofu smells weird. But that’s a bit rich coming from a Korean as his markets usually have a grandma hunched over vat of boiling silkworm larvae. IYKYK

You’re conflating formal math logic with empirical existence claims.

I’d say you knew that but I don’t honestly believe you do.

2+2 does not = 5 is part of a closed logic system.

Proving a universal negative in the real world — “Black people cant be racist” for example— requires omniscience, not math. That said, some people still try.

I studied math. I don’t care for your philosophical gibberish.

So you studied math and failed logic and epistemology ? 😂

What’s next, a nice irrational rhetorical retreat via ad hominem? Oh no!😬

My guess is 1+1= derp!

Wanted to post the same thing. Train stations in industrial areas (not the tourist hotspots) have them, for example.

Japan does occupy a weird space in Asia. They can be simultaneously revered for those certain qualities which attract people to Japan, whilst also being hated for everything else.

I’d take it as being intended as a compliment; perhaps referring to the general polite orderliness of the Japanese. Although the orderliness, ehhh 😅

Sorry, but what is the point of posting this again? A Chinese guy (mainland accent) talks about some Korean guy visiting Taiwan without any video footage of that Korean guy? So basically just a Chinese guy rambling about something that he does not even bother to show.

Or am I missing something?

If not, I will throw this into Temp…
