Any Good Macaroons in Taipei?

I was wondering if there are any good macarons to be found in Taipei (the colorful French cookie, not the coconut variation). Is there anything approaching Laduree-level there?

Thanks!

Finish yer detox first! Unless you’ve found a cool new hipster cleansing regimen that involves cookies, of course.
Dude! Eat right in the first place and you won’t NEED any bloody powders or shakes to cure what ails you!

Haha, it’s kind of a project I promised someone I’d do, then I have to contribute to a write-up, so it’s not really my choice (except when I start). I’m a skeptic, so it should be fun. I’m thinking it’d be too hard to sustain in Taipei with all the yummy options. Like macarons?

Sandman, you speak da truth. off to find a cookie detox program

Good God, macaroons are so expensive here. The best I’ve had so far are the ones from a tiny French pastry right behind Shida. Great bread, too.

It’s a tiny alley, right behind the Language Center, like going to the Post Office. Sorry, address at work.

That reminds me, there’s a terrific French pastry shop sort of behind The Sherwood hotel that’s located on Minsen E. Rd. near Dunhua. If I recall correctly, the proprietor trained in France for a number of years.

Here, I found it:

How expensive are they? I just bought some for $1.75 each (, but they were so tasty).

If you could get the address, that’d be great!

Looks good, thanks!

Bellavita Mall in Taipei has two stores that sell macaroons

Melting Finger

These macaroons are freagin’ incredible.

Think French, elevated in sweetness, flavor, presentation.

Multiple locations around Taipei.

I miss Aoki. They had incredible scones (not the topic of this thread, I know).

Robuchon continues to hang on . . .

Melting Finger

Is this some language or cultural reference I’m missing, or just the world’s most unappealing name for a shop that bakes things?

I dunno. They could have chosen “Severed Finger” or something like that.

One lesson I’ve learned in 2024 is that no matter how bad the current arrangement appears, it could still get worse.
