Did your net pay change after becoming Taiwanese? Compare the payslip before and after.
Alright, so this is a sample payment slip from when I wasn’t a citizen yet. I think most of my payment slips going back to 2014 are similar. I have removed my salary/income tax and left the rest, so you can see the monthly deductions.
Below is the list of main deductions (besides the income tax). I haven’t included items that are 0:
- 伙 食費 (Food expenses)
- 勞保費 (labor insurance)
- 健保費 (health insurance, this includes my wife and child)
- 職福金 (only says “WFA” in google translate; not sure what this is, but also deducted each month)
- 退休金提緻 (retirement benefits)
So, if I have paid labor insurance, 職福金 and 退休金提緻 (retirement benefits) for 7 years prior to citizenship, where did all that go, and where can I check that?
Anyone else has experience with this post-citizenship who wasn’t on an APRC or married to a Taiwanese?

I didn’t really pay that much attention to it. I don’t think it changed that much, but I will check it carefully and report back.
For pension check this one.
labor pension should be 勞退, and as was already mentioned, your should be on marriage based ARC or APRC to be eligible.
This should be your company’s own system. Isn’t something written in your contract?
Now you are in 國保, which is for people who are not in 勞保. You should ask to your company to add you in 勞退. Company should pay for you and it should be from when you became eligible. You can also pay up to 6% if you want, but you cannot do so retroactively.
Thanks for sharing. Very useful. I’ll pay the BLI office a visit when I get a chance.
I’ve had this before (lots of stuff missing) and I haven’t naturalised yet.
So one issue was when the ARC number changed to the new format. The other was to do with my name. The BLI had my ‘account’ in my Chinese name, but my boss had registered me with my English name.
So the BLI could see everything and printed it for me and updated the bills they sent my ex-boss with my Chinese name. After that I could check everything online
You likely have both problems. They will need to merge the account opened with your ARC to your current one and double check the name is correct
Or I could bump my wife’s salary to say 2 million a year then after a year fire her. ![]()
This sounds like your employer didn’t file for laobao and so you’re treated like an unemployed taiwan citizen or aprc holder.
Go to the labor bureau and check. Then ask your employer why they’re not filing for laobao and still withhold the amount for it.
Laobao is important because your entire unemployment benefit is dependent on it.
Looks like you are in similar situation which my wife was… We have solved it finally/ Actually, you need to ask your employer to fill and submit the “change of insured” form. In that form besides the copy of current ID you need to provide the copy of old ARC numbers issued at the Immigration when you got naturalized. See the link with forms below.
After a few weeks you can check if the status has changed or not. Also, my wife got some bills regarding your National pension contribution. If you will get such bills ignore it. Just wait to the system update.
Seems like APRC holders can claim unemployment now
Foreigners would no longer need permanent residency to qualify for benefits under the revamped labor pension system, while those who do obtain permanent residency would also become eligible for employment insurance, it said.
i beard it’s about 8000NT$
