Does any one have any experience selling freelance articles to the local English newspapers?
I’m pretty sure that I’ve heard their per word rates are quite low. But how low? In Canada, newspaper rates are around 0.25 per word. Magazines are between 0.25 and $1 per word.
What kinds of terms are common in freelancing contracts here? First rights? Secondary, electronic rights ?
Any info/war stories would be appreciated.

Is this a “just curious” kind of post, or are you an established freelance writer looking for work?
