Hello Linux fans.
I’ve got Ubuntu Feisty Fawn, current MythTV and a cheepo Lifeview TV card (which works perfectly in TVTime).
Several things are stopping me from getting this to work. Some related to the card, some related to being in Taiwan, and some, well… I just don’t know.
Anyone out there successfully used/using MythTV?
Alternatively, all I want is to be able to watch TV (TVTime already fulfills that) and record live TV. I don’t really need any of the other snazzy stuff, so if there’s any other software I can use, please do tell.
Thanks as always.
No-one?
Hmmm… is anyone here watching TV on Linux at all?
I had to struggle to get tvtime to run on the first couple of tvcards that I bought.
The main issues were getting the v4l driver working and then trying to the the freq/channels for this region. I still have a pcmcia DVB TV card that I couldn’t get to work because of nonexistent driver. Driver issues have been a real pain in the assets for many computer peripherals I have bought here in Taiwan compared to the US.
It would be nice have a local expat linux user group of some sort were we could help each other out on finding and configuring local linux-friendly hardware.
About mythtv, i’ve been wanting to set up one so i could have all tv media in one box, but just haven’t had much time lately.
