Anyone know about Cali Labor Regs?

Does anyone happen to be familiar with California labor law, specifically regarding letting someone go??

I am not familiar with the law, but here is some info.

Hm, pretty straightforward.
Thanks for the Pete

If it’s anything like Colorado, they operate under an “at-will employment” policy. They can let you go for any reason.

Also, apparently, there’s no law dictating severance, like at all.

This site ( CAN I BREAK MY EMPLOYMENT CONTRACT IN CALIFORNIA?) says as follows.

Employment Termination Clause

Your employment contract should include a termination clause. Employees in California are presumed to be “at will” which means that you or your employer can terminate the contract at any time for any reason with notice (usually two weeks). Your contract should clearly state whether you are considered an at will employee, or a contractor. The termination clause may also give your employer the right to terminate your contract without notice if you engage in any activity that constitutes violation of the agreement, or if you become permanently ill or hurt and can no longer perform your job duties.

Yeah, I saw that

You saw this too?

Employment Contracts

Yeah, I’m not really concerned with any contracted requirements, just with the law itself

Isn’t is Division 3, Chapter 2, ARTICLE 4. Termination of Employment [2920 - 2929] of labor code?

2922 is on the at will case.
https://leginfo.legislature.ca.gov/faces/codes_displaySection.xhtml?lawCode=LAB&sectionNum=2922.

It just says the same as your second post, there’s no law for how it needs to be done, and there’s no law for severance pay.
That’s all I needed to know.
I got my answer
Thanks for your links

I’m not familiar with California law, but as with other common law jurisdictions, you may have certain rights found in case law that aren’t found in the codes, and this may also apply to severance pay.
