Anyone know where to get an Ant Farm?

I have recently developed a desire to have an ant farm. I like the idea of watching a civilization create itself. I guess the same reason that I like bonzai trees. Anyway, does anyone know where to get a good sized ant farm? In Taipei preferably.

I’m still not decided yet if these are cruel or not, but they sell them at the Discovery/National Geographic stores that spring up within certain malls.

Free them before they get depressed, OK.

DIY ant farm for animal lovers.

  1. Go to the nearest supermarket.
  2. Buy a few blocks of sachima.
  3. Decide how big you want your ant farm to be (a small piece of sachima for 20 ants, a block for 300-500).
  4. Place a piece of sachima on the floor/cupboard/table/…
  5. Wait 2 minutes.
  6. Watch.

:sunglasses:

not as cruel as “Combat” hehehe

Ant farms are interesting. Here are links with related information on how to make your own and maintain it. Sounds even more fun than buying one(cheaper too) and you should be able to capture ants quite easily in Taiwan.

Keep us posted if/when you do it.

You need to capture/buy a Queen otherwise all the worker ants will get tired and give up and just die.
