Anyone wanna play Call of Duty?

Back in the day, I played Call of Duty Modern Warfare 2 (2009) on the Xbox 360. Loved it. Fast forward to 2025, and I’m now finally getting time to game again as my kid gets older. I want to play Call of Duty again, and I found that the 2023 Modern Warfare III has all of the old 2009 Modern Warfare 2 maps. So I got a PS5, and have begun to play it but I suck, have lost all my skill in the 16 years since I played properly. Does anyone wanna play? Preferably other noobs like me. I find games like this are only really fun when playing with others. Modern COD games are all cross play, so you could be on any platform including PC. I’m also open to other games too if anyone is looking for someone to play with, even Minecraft, which was another of my high school hobbies

The package is put together by DiGiTALZONE and does not require a host server or anything related to STEAM. We can run our own servers.

I’m not certain it will work. I’m not so sure that the steam platform will allow you to connect to my personal server since my counterstrike source program is a standalone set up.

I’ll check to see if it works. I’ll run the server and then I’ll connect with you to see if you can connect to my server or not using your system.

I actually don’t have a PC anymore to play, that’s the problem. I moved to Mac a few years ago. So mostly looking for games I can play with people from PS5

Nobody has joined as far as I can see.

It’s a dedicated server with an encrypted IP and the password is so not just anyone can join. If I leave it without a password then anyone in the world can search my server and join. I don’t want that. I just want all my Forumosa wanker pals to join that’s why I passworded it.

Hack my server if you can. You’ll find nothing of interest on that empty computer.

Hmm. Could be. But, I’ve had people from other places join in the past. I’ll do some looking into it and see if it works with two of my computers, but on separate Internet connections. The server in one house and a computer in another house.

I was able to join a cool server in Poland where I played for a bit. I simply entered the following address and it worked flawlessly.

Just remember, this is a non-steam game and I can’t connect to steam servers. I can only connect to non-steam servers. Also, I’m using V34 of CSS.

The group [DiGiTALZONE] (often associated with the lead cracker waRezz) was a prominent warez and game piracy group that became famous in the mid-to-late 2000s for releasing standalone, “Non-Steam” versions of Counter-Strike: Source (CS:S) and Counter-Strike 1.6.

What DiGiTALZONE Did

During a time when Valve’s Steam platform was heavily criticized for being slow, unstable, and requiring a constant internet connection, DiGiTALZONE created a highly popular alternative. They stripped the Steam requirements entirely by extracting the core game GCF files, integrating custom auto-updaters, and injecting custom emulators like the REVOLUTiON Emulator.

Most importantly, they embedded a custom “Non-Steam Master Server” directly into the game’s code. This allowed their built-in in-game server browser to bypass official Valve servers and pool thousands of cracked, community-hosted “Non-Steam” servers worldwide, creating a massive parallel multiplayer ecosystem that didn’t require a legitimate Steam account or CD key.

What Happened to Them?

Like most underground cracking groups from that era, DiGiTALZONE naturally disbanded and faded into obscurity around 2010–2011.

Their decline was caused by several major shifts:

• The 2010 “Orange Box” Engine Update: On June 23, 2010, Valve pushed a massive update migrating Counter-Strike: Source from the old Source 2006 engine to the Source 2009 engine. This fundamentally rewrote how the game client communicated with Steam and handled network protocols. While DiGiTALZONE managed to release a final “2010 Final” package right before this era, keeping up with Valve’s rapid, automated security patches became too difficult to maintain manually.

• The Rise of Russian and Eastern European Emulators: As DiGiTALZONE slowed down, other piracy teams—most notably Russian-speaking communities and groups using updated emulators like Setti MasterServers or LumaEMU—took over the maintenance of Non-Strike patches.

• Steam’s Stabilization & Regional Pricing: As Steam matured into a stable, widely accepted storefront and Valve introduced deep discount sales (often lowering CS:S to $0.99), the extreme demand for complex, unstable cracked clients plummeted.

Today, the original members have long moved on, but their historical client (particularly v34, the last stable version before the massive 2010 engine overhaul) remains famous in vintage LAN communities and in Malcolm Reynold’s house. Many purists and modders still seek out old “v34 Non-Steam” builds because it preserves the exact movement mechanics and physics of mid-2000s CS:S before Valve permanently patched them.

I’ve also got Call of Duty Modern Warefare 2 as well. However, it’s PC and it’s also non-steam. If you run a server, do you think I can connect? Or if I run a server? Or it’s gotta go through the Steam servers? I haven’t ever tried it. Gotta go look for the install files and give it a go.
