I’m looking for a room in an established flat but haven’t had much luck finding places within my budget in the areas I want.
Other than Tealit etc and bulliten boards, are there any places/organisations around Taipei I can go to, where the locals go perhaps?
Where? and how much? Speak english?

You could also post an ad here (if you haven’t already) describing the location and kind of place your looking for (size, etc.) in the Housing Classifieds forum.
Hi Hine, from your ad I assume you don’t speak/read Chinese, but maybe you have a friend who does … most neighbourhoods have a message board on some street corner where house rentals and sales etc. are posted, usually easy to recognize as most posters use red paper for their ads … your Chinese friends will know this anyway. In my experience this is the way to find the cheapest deals, not sure whether shared flats would be posted there as well though, particularly if you’re looking to share with other foreigners … good luck, Xpet.

You can also go to ShiTa university, in the Chinese Language Building on the 6th or 7th (I forgot), where you do have small adds for apartment, room rental and also YMCA hotels where you can stay for a while and looking for your apartment at the same time…
