Applying for a renewable visa in Bangkok, am I nuts?

Where should I apply for a new renewable visa?

  • Hong Kong
  • Canada
  • Bangkok

First let me explain my situation. I’m on vacation right now and I’m between visas. My previous school told me that I could overstay for a week, and as a result I can’t get into Taiwan without a visa for a year. I plan to get back to Taiwan from Cambodia on the 16th of August and then go to a friend’s wedding on the 27th in China. Since Taiwan has no representation in Cambodia, I’ve decided to go to Bangkok to get a new visa. I’ve recently (as in today) read that the Bangkok office is really stingy with visas right now. Should I stick it out in Bangkok, go to Hong Kong, or head back to Canada to get a renewable visa?

Thanks in advance

Malaysia is the best place at the moment,I heard.

Thanks for the advice, rassie. Right now, I guess I have two options. I could (a) apply for a non-renewable visa in Bangkok (where I am right now), go to Taiwan, apply for another one in Hong Kong (I’ve heard that Americans can get a renewable visa there easily, but I don’t know about Canadians) and then back to Taiwan. Or (b) I could just skip my flight from Cambodia to Taiwan and go to Kuala Lumpur and apply for a renewable visa there. What do you think is best?
