I did some research on this Topic and it seems a lot has changed with the background checks.
Well anyway i am no perfect citizen and it seems theres no definite answer to what you can have on your record and still get a JFRV.
In 2003 I had a petty theft case, then in 2007 I have a wrongful use of cocaine.
I was very surprised to see the 2007 case show up on my FBI report because I never was arrested
and I never went to court, but because it happened in the military its still reported to the FBI because
its under Federal employment. Kind of makes me angry though because its listed as I was arrested for it
on my report when really I just failed a urinalysis and never was arrested.
Anyway those to things aside what are my chances at getting a JFRV?
I know drug cases are looked very badly upon which worries me.
I called the FBI customer service asking If I could just receive a 5 year report
since this is all TW needs and this was almost 5 years ago but they replied
they only issue 10 year reports. Anyone out there with some similar charges
who has successfully gotten a JFRV?
I got my JFRV despite having a criminal record for posession of LSD. The offence happened when I was 18, and when I applied over 10 years had passed and I was married with a child. I had to speak with the supervisor at the foreign affairs office, but once I explained she seemed to think it was no big deal.

Its been almost 5 years, and in another 5 years worst case scenario I could ask for a new FBI background check and at that time it
will be off my record. If possible I really dont want to wait till 2016 to apply for my JFRV.
BTW in 2007 My sergeant told us all we were going to war in iraq and 50% of us would die
doing the most dangerous job there, truck driving. After that it was kinda the live it up while you can attitude
before you die. Thats what got me in trouble, I have never been the one to do or get into drugs before that day.
A US friend of mine applied last year. He had a B&E charge on his FBI report from when he was 18 and still got his JFRV.
Ive noticed most people to get approved made mistakes when they were 18, but what about when you were 25?
Is that to late to claim the young and dumb excuse?
