APRC and volunteer work

I read all the stuff about volunteer work here, very informative indeed. I have APRC and OWP, can do volunteer work such as help out at an orphanage for a day, or give a free musical performance, collect old newspapers for charity, or plant a few extra trees without getting in trouble?

Curious,

Yali

Technically you should be allowed to, but if the police want to deport you, they will anyway. (If they really want to get you, they’ll find a way).

Brian

hmm, that’s rather unsettling. On what grounds could I get in trouble? Or what reason would the authorities give?

OK, I was being a little cynical. You’re extremely unlikely to be deported, but if some cop or someone had a grudge and wanted you out, they’d figure out a reason, and the police can deport you without an automatic right of appeal.

Brian

thanks, I feel better already. Guess I ought to make sure not to run afoul of anybody and try be nice and agreeable. The impression I had from the APRC regulations, was that what I do or not do here here is no longer linked to my reason for staying, so even if I do something I am not supposed to, I should not suffer more than a fine or reprimand. It has nothing to do with my permanent residence permit. Well, maybe that is how it is in theory, but in practice things probably look different.
