APRC Application Questions

  1. Do I need to be physically in Taiwan to apply for APRC after my Gold Card?

  2. I read from somewhere the approval letter will be mailed to the applicant. Will the applicant receive email notification as well?

  3. Does the applicant need to bring the approval letter for collection?

  4. Is there a due date for collection?

I guess you could try surrendering your ARC there (I think they have the option to post it to you if you already surrendered the ARC card) Otherwise you would have to collect it.

However, I am unsure how it works when you leave… I always showed my ARC when flying out of Taiwan

Passport should be enough if one uses the eGate. I always scan the passport because the eGates seem to have difficulties scanning ARCs. No issues so far.

Not sure if they accept APRC applications by proxy, though.

I find the very contrary, only use APRC at egates, so much faster for me.

I didn’t receive an email. Just a letter in the mail and a few days later a phone call.

But more generally, the process is a lot easier if you can be in Taiwan for a couple of weeks around the application. Weren’t you planning to spend some time here anyway?

didn’t get any letter myself, they just called my wife to tell her it was approved haha. Always nice they let her know, not bothering with me

I go to the resident line. Nobody there, need to give the officer some work, faster than eGates, and I get a stamp because I am a three year old at heart.
