Aquarium?

I saw big posters in the MRT for what might be an aquarium (?) there was one poster with a whale shark, which looked awesome. but I can’t remember the name on the poster, and Googling “aquarium Taipei” was not helpful.
Any ideas what the posters could be for?

Shark fin soup?

Maybe it’s for the one down in kenting. I went there a couple months ago and they had a whale shark. It was actually better than I thought it would be.

The one in Kenting is pretty cool, and there is one in Taipei (in Shilin, Ji-He Rd) but it’s crap and overpriced for what they have.

FWIW

If I remember correctly, the only aquarium with a whale shark is in Okinawa.

That’s what I immediately thought of too. As I recall it has two whale sharks in a massive tank with huge rays. Amazing place but a bit of a trek to get to.

I took this picture last year at the Kending Aquarium. Not a real good picture but I’m pretty sure that Kending has a whale shark. The whole gallery is here - pbase.com/kabeiser/kenting_aquarium

Osaka Aquarium (a pretty awesome place to visit) has one, too!

Nope, Taiwan has at least one whale shark. Didn’t Georgia aquarium get a whale shark also?
The Japanese might conveniently miss these facts in their advertising.
Not that I agree with capturing rare wild animals for display in general.
The best aquarium here is the national aquarium in Pingdong, Hengchun peninsula, nearby Kending.
Penghu also has a small aquarium too.

the place near Kending is called National Museum of Marine Biology and Aquarium and you can actually sleep in the tunnels there.

Thanks, everyone
The posters I saw in the MRT were definitely for the place near Kending, National Museum of Marine Biology and Aquarium

I wonder what the Open Ocean Tank Whale Shark Feeding Show is … nmmba.gov.tw/english/Activit … 8d8dcbf4a8

Does anyone know if they have programs to scuba in any of the tanks? (I dived in the Busan aquarium shark tank in Korea, which was pretty sweet)

The tank with the whale shark can be seen from “even ground” and in the basment as a huge aquarium with a daily feeding show in which a diver feeds the shark and the other fish, accompanied by typical taiwanese PA equipped commentator. You can’t go into the water yourself though.
Amongst many other things, as part of the tour the visitor group is lead to the actual shore nearby and given lots of interesting and educational instructions. In Chinese only AFAIK.
IMO all in all this place is well worth a visit and fun for kids too. Last year we combined it with a short trip to the “spring scream” chaos.
