Does anyone have any experience of extending a Chinese studies ARC for the purpose of finding a job/processing work permit application?
I’m basically looking at a very tight gap between my student ARC expiring and submitting the necessary materials for a job teaching English. I don’t want to overstay my ARC, but I’m not sure whether an extension would be granted under these conditions, as I have not registered to continue studying Chinese. Does anyone have any experience of this?

You can’t extend a student ARC.
I tried that too.
You need to find a job asap to stay or continue your studies somehow.
Thanks for taking the time to reply. I thought that might be the case. Do you by any chance know whether the work permit application has to be completed before the ARC expires or if it’s enough to have submitted the application materials?
You need the work permit on hand to apply for an ARC.
Once you apply for the ARC and have receipt in hand, you’re safe.
