I recently received my spousal ARC and it expires in one year. The person who gave me the ARC says it’s important to renew it before it expires. However, I will be overseas for a while and there is a small chance I may not be able to return to Taiwan to renew it in time. Can I have a friend or family member in Taiwan renew it for me? Has anyone here done that and can tell me what’s the process like? Thanks.
It can be renewed by someone else. You can just sign a paper saying you agree for that person to do it. However, i was always in Taiwan when someone else helped me. Dont know if that makes a difference.
Yes, you can. My coordinator does it for me every year, I have never been to immigration office to do it myself. Just write down your authorisation for person X to do it for you.
Note that I believe they need your old one, so I’d assume they’d need to mail you your new one overseas before you can come back
Coordinator? Is that someone you hire or pay to do it?
Is it just a letter I need or is it more like an official form like a power of attorney?
Do you know if just the ARC is needed or will they also need my passport?
I teach at junior high school and have my coordinator who deals with all paper work like criminal police check, work permit, school contract and so on. I am meeting him on Monday as my ARC needs to be converted to employment. You need to remember that your passport, 1 picture, your old ARC and NTD 1000 are needed for your new ARC.
Thank you
They have a power of attorney form at immigration i remember.
Saying that, i have literally written i agree for ________ to apply for my ARC and signed it before.
As mentioned above, they will need your passport to apply.
Also forgot that they did want my ARC while exiting the country as well… so you’ll probably have to mail both the ARC and Passport back to whoever you have on the Taiwan side (don’t forget to take both to the airport with you!)
I just started the process of having my ARC renewed for me by someone in Taiwan while I’m still overseas.
Basically, you’ll need (1) a completed ARC extension form filled out (with photo attached), (2) a copy of your passport notarized and then authenticated by TECO, (3) a completed Power of Attorney form also authenticated by TECO. You’ll need to send these three items along with your original ARC card back to Taiwan. The person on your POA will be allowed to submit it on your behalf along with the fee.
Power of Attorney form I used:

Hopefully it all goes smoothly
Can this be done with an expired ARC?
Just a follow up. My ARC renewal form was submitted successfully. There was a NT3,000 fee for a 3 year renewal. We can pick up the new card in 2 weeks.
I received the new card. All is good.
