Are guys more respectful to vehicles?

I don’t want to start any sexist debate here, just want to see what your opinions are. I am bringing this up because it happened to me again. I pull into the gas station and the female attendant jabs the nozzle into the tank and then follows by spilling fuel all over my tank. Mind you, this has happened to me 99% of the time when it’s a female attendant, but almost never when it’s a dude.

And I can’t remember how many times I’ve stopped and had people come up to check out my bike. The guys usually stand back and just look. It’s always a female that walks over to lean on the bike, or slap the tank or kick the tires. Don’t they know its forbidden to touch a guys bike or any vehicle. Several times I’ve turn my back for a second parked somewhere, then turn around to find some girl sitting on my bike (not a bad thing if I weren’t already married). Then I yell at them to get the F off and they look at me like I’m overreacting. Most guys would never do stuff like that, unless they are retarded or are asking for a beating.

Maybe guys just know that they are more likely to get a punch in the nose for doing these kinds of things. Or maybe girls just really dig my bike and just can’t control they urge to touch it.

Last case and example. My buddy rents scooters out. I introduced a few of my co-workers to him to rent scooters. Both male and female. He complained to me the other day that the females always bring his scooters back all scratched and banged up, and running like sh*t. The guys on the other hand usually return the scooter in original condition.

Again, this thread is not about if male drivers are better than female drivers, or anything like that. Just an observation of mine from my own experience. And this is not to say I have not met females who truely respect vehicles. UKbikerchick is one I know that treats her bike with lots of
r-e-s-p-e-c-t.

I hear your pain…

You’ll notice that most of the girls that work at gas stations are under 20. They don’t really understand what they are doing and at that tender age, most have yet to acquire the taste for nice cars and motorcycles. When I see a girl attendant coming toward my car to fill it up, I get out and do it myself. It saves a world of trouble and they’re usually more than happy to let you do the job.

As for the girls that sit on other people’s bikes and scooters, well, they know they’re not going to get punched for doing it and perhaps they just want to pick up the dude that owns that particular bike or scooter.

I’ve also noticed that most of the girls who do appreciate cars and motorcycles have (had) boyfriends that are car/motorcycle enthusiasts. There are some girls that are just as enthusiastic about their rides as guys are but they are rare. For the most part, girls are less likely to be as careful with their vehicles when compared to guys.

A guy I met at a gas station once was riding a nice Ducati S4R… as I was chatting to him, it turns out that his wife rides a Harley, and it was HER who got HIM interested in bikes…

IMO your theory is 100% on the money. I’ve had the same thing happen consistently over the years.
Guys tend to respect other guys vehicles. Females, sometimes, but unfortunately, they are the exception.

Fingerprints on the chrome, on the tank, etc. And moving the mirror to check their make-up…grrrrrr.

And about cars…same type of stuff, but add slamming the doors when they get out. No need to slam the darn door!
My last 4 cars had a remote trunk latch. Opened from the key fob and from a button in the passenger compartment. To close it all that was needed was to press the lid down until it clicked, then a mechanism would pull it tightly closed.
You have no idea the number of times I have wrenched in pain as one woman after another slammed it down while happily smiling.
This is after being told hpw to close it…grrrrr.

I was out with ratlung and it was some stupid beetlenut slobbering guy that decided to sit on ratlung’s motorcyle.

On the very same day, his motorcycle was parked on the side of the road and this old buffoon is trying to move the motorcycle over so he could park his car there. What an old buffoon twat. What if he had dropped the bike or knocked it into the ditch.

So it is not just women.
And about cars…same type of stuff, but add slamming the doors when they get out. No need to slam the darn door!
 It took me about four years to teach my wife how to close the door, and still she sometimes forgets. I think though that people that do less sports have poorer skills at judging how much strength something will take, and/or less judgement as to how much force they are actually applying. Hence the wife would either be so tender with the door it took four tries to close it, or she’d slam it so hard the car almost tips over, or everything falls off, like the clown car.

As to the random groping and sitting on bikes etc., nah, the men are just bad. Mind you, the only motorcycle I own now is so tall the girls probably can’t climb up to the seat, or they’re afraid to fall off.

The only idiots who’ve split gasoline on my bike were guys (two cases). I wouldn’t draw any generalizations from this based on the inherent bias of small sample size.

what you guys need to master is the phrase “98, 加滿” but with such a tone so as to put the fear of god into the hapless gas jockey… and then, waiting until they are poised, gas nozzle in hand, to give them a slow, deliberate, meaningful glare of appraisal, focussing on key areas of their form and technique before reluctantly unlocking the gas cap and allowing them to proceed… under eagle eyed supervision of course…

They need to know that it’s more than their life is worth to get even a drop of gas on the paint…

Yea I would agree to some extent with the OP. But once you get tired of riding the bus and waiting to get some where does the importance of taking care of your car/scooter becomes a reality.

Care full when you open that door honey.

OK!!!
Bang!

I told you to be carefulllll!!!

Oh?
Sorry.

:loco:

How about explaining to your female passenger on the back of your bike or scooter that they should sit back a bit or tilt their head, so that they don’t keep banging their cheap ass helmet against your 15,000NT Arai helmet. It took about a year together before my wife understood why my helmet cost more almost 20K NT and that I hate it when she grabs it by the visor, leaving her oily finger prints on it. Oh well, I still don’t understand why she has 30K NT handbags and more shoes than she can wear in a year. So maybe there are somethings that will never be understood by either sexes.

OMG! I think you just summed it all up! :bravo:
Oh well, I still don’t understand why she has 30K NT handbags and more shoes than she can wear in a year.
So you’re also married to Imelda Marcos eh?

HEY NOW!! Don’t start slamming other people’s idols.
