It’s awfully naive to think that money and social status aren’t a huge part of attracting girls. Sure, the other half - looks, brains, charisma, humor, overall personality - matter a lot, but love can’t buy you money as Paul McCartney sang. Adjust that 50/50% ratio depending on the particular female.
So what if some average middle class slob goes to the Philippines to marry a girl beyond his dreams. It’s not like ugly rich guys are batting way out their league with women in their own home countries all the time. I mean, even the President of the U.S. is a passport bro - …uh, maybe not the best example to bring up…

Yes there’s 100,000s of Taiwanese passport bros with their Vietnamese wives doing all the hard work and looking after the in-laws too. But it’s none of my business !
The only difference is the Taiwanese spouses are free to leave anytime. Not so much the foreign Vietnamese spouses who in many cases have nowhere to escape to when the guy turns out to be a boorish pig.

Because it directly challenges the typical “expat man (passport bro)/local woman” stereotype, these channels draw massive audiences.
Not so much Taiwan, but in Thailand, Philippines, etc. and places known for large foreign men/local women.
