Really weird to see foreigners going so hard for the dpp, when few Taiwanese do
Think kmt governments are slightly more foreigner friendly but it’s only a slight difference

What?
Eight million is few?
Remember that the KMT primarily only provided friendly policies towards Enemy Aliens of China and were also were very reluctant to allow foreigners freedom of speech while the DPP pushed them to allow free speech by foreigners.
Dpp isn’t very popular these days. There is a lot of venom towards them in society
Most Taiwanese are not aligned to a party
The last national election was against a pro China candidate, people were not voting because they like the dpp
Again dpp is very unpopular
From long years of experience, I’d say DPP and KMT are about equally xenophobic. There are more progressive and more reactionary elements in both parties when it comes to their attitudes toward foreigners. If those reactionary elements weren’t present, dual citizenship would have been available a long time ago.
Plenty of people support the DPP. Not sure where you’re getting this.
Yes agree
Define unpopular. What does this version unpopular look like? I can’t see it.
If the DPP is unpopular, and they just won a new seat in a traditionally blue riding, what does that make the KMT? Dead?
See the results in last local elections or like read any forum or podcast
Most of the dpp core voters are old hardcore, which is the same as the kmt. The TPP were the most popular with younger voters. Most Taiwanese are not aligned to a party
There is a lot of venom in society towards the dpp and their performance. People are not happy with their ‘you don’t love Taiwan agenda’ , vaccine policies, nepotism, corruption, relationship with mafia, economic policies etc
The only people I really see batting hard for them is foreigners on twitter or wherever
The TPP got 150000 votes nationwide in the municipal elections. In an electorate of tens of millions.
That looks pretty unpopular to me.
Like people don’t like them. Young people don’t like them. Celebrities who aligned themselves with them in 2019, don’t want to be anywhere near them as they are kryptonite
Not sure if living in same Taiwan as me
The TPP only really exist in Taipei and north and got a much bigger share of the youth vote.
I mean like everyone knows the young hate the dpp, I could go and get some numbers, but just go and speak to some people
That’s an odd analysis. Clearly there are still plenty of DPP supporters. No reason there shouldn’t be any among foreigners.
DPP received 4.7 million votes.
4 million is a lot of votes.
I’d imagine 4.7 million people must include a lot of young people.
Who were these celebrities aligning themselves with?
They aren’t popular
Who are the supporters. They have a small hardcore and then other people vote for them because they hate the kmt more
There is general revulsion to a lot of the dpp antics, at least in the media I read, the opinion polls and the media
It seems like young people are increasingly seeing both parties for what they are…power-hungry, tone-deaf, corrupt, corporatist organizations that don’t really have the interests of your average citizen in mind. Voters really need to have better options available. The TPP were supposed to be one of those better options, but things haven’t turned out that way.
This is why I would vote DPP if I could vote. Basically a lesser of two evils scenario.
That’s what I think when read stuff from foreigners here. Nobody reads the news
There are lots of DPP supporters, literally millions. That’s just a fact. No amount of skewed platitudes is going to change that. No reason foreigners should be different.
館長 right now is on a tirade against dpp corruption
He said that all the celebrities and YouTubers that align themselves with the dpp in 2020 election don’t want anything to do with them and are disgusted by their antics.
Look at the last mayoral elections. Which celebrities worked with dpp?
