Are there Russian Putin Puppets here on Forumosa?

Do you think there are Russian agents working here on Forumosa trying to influence public opinion?
No calling out names, please.
Just a discussion!

They definitely must have something better to do, no?

Forumosa would be an odd choice to allocate limited Russian Intelligence resources. However, Putin is an idiot, so maybe.

No.

Next question.

Like actual Russians with this as their real job, in an office in Moscow, with a pension? No. This site doesn’t have a big enough audience. If someone just shows up and starts pumping political threads without having much to say elsewhere it gets noticed quickly and called out. I myself was called out for posting in political threads when I wasn’t living in Taiwan and had only been a Forumosa member for a few months.

Definitely some long time regular members who like to push “news” from sources like RT, and Sputnik, and Zero Hedge. But they seem to get offended when it is pointed out that they are mainlining Kremlin propaganda. So, not really Russian agents, no.

I mean, what else are they going to say?

I like to think actual Russian agents would be harder to spot and better at deflecting when they’re made. Maybe I’m naive

Being as this is a Taiwan oriented site, there have been PRC shills posting propaganda here before. Not currently as far as I am aware. Whether they were actual wumao or not, who knows? Plenty of dupes post propaganda of all kinds for for free.

But maybe, RT, and Sputnik, and Zero Hedge are only a deflection from what is really going on in terms of Russian propaganda.
About 15 years a go, I had job offerings in Taiwan analysing webcontent and giving it ratings. Now we are in the age of AI.
Why shouldn´t it have been possible setting up an army of posters, each individual taking care of a number of websiites, in strategically important counties and start influencing?
With a war that costs Trillions, wouldn´t that be a small price to pay?

I guess that’s possible.

What on earth is a “Russian Putin Puppet”? And in what sense would they want to “influence public opinion” on a space like forumosa?

Personally I’m more bothered by people pushing Western propaganda about infinite genders, “net zero”, or the next made-up disease that’s coming to kill us all. Putin is a Machiavellian crook, but he doesn’t strike me as remarkably worse than any of the other warmongering, thieving, lying scumbags that infest the corridors of power these days. It’s sad that Russia looks the way it does, but obsessing over Putin is just weird.

Oh wait … that view probably counts as Russian propaganda, doesn’t it. So maybe you have a point.

You need to take the Moscow time difference into account.

So the people here defending Putins talking points are just delusional?
Don´t forget in all this that Putin himself has the longest table in the world since COVID!

You’ve got it completely back-to-front. If you actually listen to what he says, you’ll note that Putin’s schtick is to latch onto common Western complaints about the US/Europe - many of which are entirely valid - and then amplify/repurpose them to defend his own position. He feeds upon the West’s own weaknesses.

I’m not sure what you mean by this, but I certainly remember you were one of the most ardent defenders of “COVID” propaganda here on forumosa.

Sure I belive you don´t, irony over!

Make this present tense. The COVID strain going around the time of lockdowns could have devastated Taiwan. Germany could have gotten without it, If the people here weren´t so ignorant and just put on a mask or, at least not sneese into other people face.

And with this you should not deflect from my original post!

why would they pay when others do their advertising for free?

:man_bowing::man_bowing:

this is bound to be a productive thread

How do you know all of them are doing it for free?

It is like having a girlfriend and at one point you are asking yourself that question.
