Are you supportive of the coup in Thailand? Anything to get rid of Thaksin? Or is the democratic process more important? Have your say!

OK so the man is an ass and has pulled a few stunts in the last couple of years. What do you expect if you elect a guy like him? Seriously he should have been allowed to see out his term and then run new elections, or his party should have forced him to resign. The army have set the whole process back, and now any newly elected official will have the additional worry of the army interfering whilst the new process takes hold. Even the King has not said whether he supports this or not (smart move).

On the plus side there are some other Asian leaders Ah Bien included who may be taking notes. I honestly thought the Philipines would revolt before now and the rcent troubles in Hungary and Thailand may yet tempt them to do so.

Change is good but some changes are better than others.

I voted yes.

As I mentioned elsewhere, i think there are some rather unique characteristics in all of this that do justify this action. That it was carried out without bloodshed is a crucial factor in my support.

One of the unique features is the role of the King and the history of Thai military coups. For this reason, although the CCP blatherers may attempt to draw some parallels, I think the situation is uniquely Thai and would absolutely oppose such an event in Taiwan.

I am in principle against any change of government not taking place at the ballot box, or after negotiations among democratically elected representatives.

On the subject of monarchy in general, then I believe that it’s a relic of a bygone era, no country is served with maintaining.

Damn, I voted yes and then realized it said coup and not soup
Can’t beat a nice bowl of Tong Yam…

I don’t know, that’s what the (Taiwanese) missus calls it…WTF do I know? Do I look Thai? Huh?

Erm, OK, well, I don’t.

Tom yum goong. Its middle name ain’t “yum” for nothing!!

I thought Thaksin was going to step down anyway. Why the coup?

Still, scummy leaders should be either be voted out of office by a fed-up electorate at the next election, or, if they seriously break the law, they should be impeached and removed from office according to constitutional principles. That’s the way things should be. Unfortunately, it’s not always the way things are.

Another yes. It’s undemocratic, but hey, so was Thaksin’s government. Thailand will get where it needs to be in its own time and in its own way.

Good thing it didn;t happen in Indo.

Meester Prezeedent, Meester Prezeedent, we want to take over the country . . . .
