taipei, taichung, hualien, chiayi. bought glasses with my girlfriend and we got a little discount and an upgrade on the glass type. just today, the flower lady at yangmingshan cut the price just a tad because they had me in tow.
though, i’m not getting lower prices on everything. it’s usually when we go to places not frequented by all you other forumosans. i’m definitely paying the ‘foreigner rate’ at the lunch buffet.

I get a discount all the time and free bees … but then most places I frequent know I’m a poor bastard …
I had lots of discounts down in Koahsiung when I first went. Kenting, too, if I was with local friends. But once folks figured out I was gonna be there a long time, that dried up and I very frequently got “taxed” unless I had a local friend a long! You lean quick some nice haggling language when you’re being ripped off!

I think a lot of people fleece me by telling me I’m getting a discount on a bogus (elevated) “waiguoren” price. The “special price”.
So instead of paying $2400 for $2800 sheets, I pay $3200 for $5000 sheets, although they’re the same sheets. Or something like that.
