Hello. I currently live in Taipei, and I want to start painting again. I like using oils, but I’m not sure what the procedure is for disposing of used materials. Oil paints and the associated equipment is loaded with toxic substances and I don’t want to just dump the stuff down a storm drain in the dead of night ( for various reasons). Does anyone know where to go to have this stuff collected and processed in a way that minimizes the public health risk?
Well you are in Taiwan just go dump it in the ocean or if you teach english you could always let the kids play with it. No but seriously its a good question. I usually just store my used turps in a sealed jar. When the oil settles to bottom you can reuse the turpentine again. So you shouldn’t have that much waste. I am guessing that they don’t have a system or place to drop the stuff off like they do here in the states. So I guess it will be making its way to the storm drain or down the toilet.
Through sniffing, snorting, huffing, or direct injection.
Next stupid question…!
I am the worst artist in the world, but I have some naphtha that would require proper disposal. I have not used it for anything related with paint, but that does not matter here. I also have some alcohol, although that I guess I could just leave it to evaporate.
Does anyone know where I could dispose it for recycle?
I live in Tamsui.
