What are you expecting from the financial advisor? Are you looking for someone to manage your assets, plan for kid’s college, retirement, etc?
I find that just about anyone can call themselves a financial advisor/planner. So often what you have is someone trying to sell you a product which may or may not align with your best interests. For similar reasons I lean towards a flat fee advisor.
