I’m curious – what do you think Lisa Nowan would have done if Colleen Shipman had let Lisa get into her car?
A little off-topic, but has anyone ever ‘done the wild thing’ in space?
They have a name for it, but it’s not the mile high club.
And at zero gravity, you damn well better be wearing a condom.
Please try to stay on topic. The topic of this thread is this story:
Pretty stupid what she did. A rubber hose, a metal rod or something, a wig, and she wore a diaper so she wouldn’t have to stop on the 900 mile trip. But what can you expect out of someone like that? It’s not like she’s a rocket scientist or anything.
Well the newspapers have been having a field day with captions for her.
Here’s one: “Houston, She has a problem.”
I’m still trying to figure out why she drove to Fla. instead of flying.

Think about what she had in her car, and what you think she was intending to do, and I’m sure the answer will come to light.

Oh yea, thanks. Then she is :loco:. You think that after 100 miles, she would have just have cooled out, but this guy must have a serious love jones .
She was wearing astronaut diapers (not kidding) so she didn’t have to stop on the 900 mile drive. She must have completely wigged out. I think her intent was pretty clear. Whether she would actually have gone through with it or not is another question.
This has got to be one of the weirder stories in recent years.
Buzz Aldrin, among others, was on Larry King last night talking about the case and NASA.
I think the reason she was wearing diapers is because she was afraid that if she stops to go to the bathroom, someone might recognize her. If she really planned to kill Colleen Shipman, then her alibi would have been that she was in Houston the whole time, so she didn’t want anyone to see her along the way. Although, I don’t know how she got gas without being seen!
About why she didn’t fly to Orlando: If she flew, then there would be proof that she went to Orlando. It’s obvious that she was planning to drive all the way back to Houston without anyone knowing where she went when she was gone. That’s why she paid cash at the motel and she also paid cash every time she stopped for gas along the way. Also, like “gao_bo_han” said, it would be very suspicious to take a BB gun, bullets, a sledge hammer, a knife, four feet of rubber hose, pepper spray, and latex gloves in her checked-in luggage. (But actually, it wouldn’t be illegal to take those things on a plane as long as it’s in her checked-in luggage, since it would be a domestic flight.)
By the way, the initial reports were saying that the police found the “murder kit” in her car, which was parked at a nearby motel. But then the reporters changed their story, and they are now saying that when Lisa confronted Colleen at the airport, Lisa was carrying a bag with all of the murder weapons, even the BB gun. Then when the police saw her, she quickly threw the bag of murder weapons in a trash can, and she also threw away her wig. But it was stupid to throw them away while the police were watching her because that made her get an additional charge of “attempting to destroy evidence”.
Did anyone notice that when Lisa met Colleen at the Orlando airport, Colleen had just gotten off a flight that came from Houston! In fact, Colleen was still in Houston when Lisa left to drive to Orlando! So if Lisa just wanted to “scare” Colleen like she said, she could have easily done that when they were both in Houston! So I think Lisa was definitely planning to do something to Colleen that would have caused the police to search for the person who did it. That’s why Lisa needed no one to know that she was in the same city as Colleen when it happened.

If you have two threads on the same topic, and one goes off topic but the other stays on topic, is it still off topic ? If that thread is off topic for the forum, wasn’t it always off topic to begin with ?
That depends. How exactly is it related to international politics?
I found the PDF files of the police reports on the internet!
Here is the initial police report.
Here is the affidavit for the attempted kidnapping charge.
And here is the affidavit for the attempted murder charge.
There are some details in the police reports which were never mentioned by the media:
-
When Lisa Nowak checked in at the hotel near Orlando Airport, she used a fake name and fake address.
-
She really was carrying all of the weapons (BB gun, sledge hammer (“steel mallet”), knife, rubber tubing, pepper spray, and black gloves) in a black duffel bag when she met Colleen Shipman at the airport. So the initial reports that the police found the “murder kit” in Lisa’s car at the hotel were wrong. However, the police did find 6 latex gloves in Lisa’s car.
-
When Lisa was at the Orlando Airport, her BB gun was loaded and ready to fire!
That depends. How exactly is it related to international politics?[/quote]It’s not, that’s why the other thread on this very subject is in the Open forum.
It wasn’t a good disguise anyway, you’ll still be able to see her space helmet under her wig.
Was the rubber tubing to tie her up with? I bet she would have used an astro-knot.
Well, space is pretty international. But if we’re gonna stay on topic, we’d better start talking politics. Is this all maybe somehow related to Pluto’s demotion, and if so, is that political?
Imagine trying to explain that to a police officer in the 1930s.
“My friend is obviously Chinese. I see you’ve noticed the ears. They’re actually easy to explain.”
“Perhaps the unfortunate accident I had as a child.”
“He caught his head in a mechanical … rice picker. But fortunately, there was an American missionary living close by who was actually a, uh… skilled plastic surgeon in civilian life.”
Keep up the puns and the OP will be writing your orbit-uary.
Rubber tubing is often used for strangulation.
I think it’s strange that she took so many weapons since any one of the weapons would have been enough to kill a person. I guess since she didn’t have any experience killing people, she didn’t know which method would work the best, so she planned to first try one way, and if that didn’t work, then try a different way.
By the way, Matthew, sorry that I started this thread in this forum when someone had already started a thread with the same topic in the Open Forum. I checked this forum before I started this thread, but I didn’t check any other forum. Anyway, I think this topic is more suitable to this forum rather than the Open Forum because it’s about something that happened in the U.S., whereas the Open Forum should only be about things happening in Taiwan. I agree that it isn’t really about politics, but it’s “current events” anyway.

This is why I questioned why drive? Okay get the post 911 stuff. But hell, then she wasn’t a smart cookie. All that stuff could have been bought in Orlando.
Is it reasonable to assume she wasn’t thinking reasonably?
This lady was smart enough to become an astonaut and yet she’s fighting over some stupid boy. Damn!
