Asus ROG Ally a competitor to the Steam Deck

I ended up buying the cheapest Steam Deck, and then replacing the internal SSD with a 2TB one, partitioning it to install both Steam OS (smaller partition) and Win10. Now it pretty much runs everything, and can also remote play the PS5.

It is a nice machine and it runs most stuff well, and as you say, ergonomically very comfortable. The battery life is not great, but I just use a decent external battery, but on your commute that may not be so practical. I will install Office and a few other apps on it, and need to setup the Emudeck stuff for some old games.

Overall very happy with it for the price.

Is always more expensive in Taiwan

In western new york, the tax rate is 8%. Some jurisidictions in the US are as high as 12%

Secondly, the Taiwanese one in particular doesn’t get the kind of economies of scale the US one does as there are localisations that must be done.

For the product to be this close to the US price is a good job.

Damn yeah I forgot about the city tax :pensive: I always forget about that.

But still domestic products are usually cheaper because of the money saved on shipping and export costs
