Audi R8 Crash 1 Dead in Xizhi

Horrific crash and fire caught on video including lifeless body of 21 year old girl. Don’t watch if you’re not inclined.

Sad all around I especially feel sorry for the family who will see this video.

Can hear the 602 horsepower car engine rev up before crash.

Looks like this corner
Kangning St

Sad video. Strange behavior by the driver, he didn’t want to look after his dying girlfriend and was checking the car more than her - probably due to shock.

According to Apple daily, the guy’s a social media ‘star’ with a ton of sports cars (bought on loan and by his parents).

Also neither him nor the girl were wearing seatbelts. I guess his airbag deployed and hers didn’t.

God I hate rich kids driving sports cars bought by Daddy in Taiwan. Entitled wankers.

Sorry I might have been wrong - latest report says he’s actually a loan shark, hence all the cash.

Well, very few 28 year olds can afford such a car using their own salary/investments. So I assume is either leveraging parents or is doing something illegal.

Lately the trend is both.

Rich wannabe types don’t get real jobs, they borrow daddy’s money and then use that to get into illegal or unethical business like scams, loan sharking, night club drug selling, etc. It’s the 豬好歌 types.

It’s probably how daddy originally made his money as well, before going legit.

Sometimes, but as you could see in the Taichung Maserati beating incident, all of the punks’ parents owned factories. How they got the money to start factories is another thing. A lot of people fell ass backwards into money here because their previously ordinary farm land suddenly became extremely valuable land.

Really really sad, I have a daughter that age, I did not even want to watch the video.

There’s a crazy amount of these supercars and sports car this year. Noisy and invariably driven by fucjheads revving in the cities and the countryside .
Shows how much tax these factory owner types (usually sons of) pay.
Hope he goes to jail for killing her.

Yeah, those sports cars are all over the place and they are almost always driven recklessly. I thought it was overseas Taiwanese coming back to hide from Covid, but I assume they’ve left now.

I saw on the first article I read about this that the driver claims he wasn’t driving “that fast”, but based on the damage it looks like he’s going really fast.

Plus why aren’t they wearing seatbelts? Air bags will actually kill you if you aren’t wearing seat belts. The car’s manual and words on the dash all say this. Air bags don’t exactly inflate gracefully like you see in some of those car commercials… they inflate explosively. I mean you’re talking about a car crash, and they actually use an explosive to inflate the air bag.

They are rich so they are special. Don’t you know that? :stuck_out_tongue_closed_eyes:

Just typical idiots who are yet to grow up even though they grew old. There is a Chinese slang for man child. Probably that.

These guys are so well connected, a a couple million NT to her family which is pocket change for this guy, and all charges dropped i bet. Hate to be cynical but thats usually what happens

Less than five year sentence for non professional drivers involved in manslaughter I believe in Taiwan

Just watched a vid here in the USA where young lad
Responsible for street racing death of s woman got a 24 year sentence !

But Taiwan is max five years for the same so out in a year or so

Looks like the fire didn’t kill her as he was able to drag her out but not wearing a seat belt is a big no no

The airbag may have killed her even

Seat belt usage still seems a bit uncommon in Taiwan…at least in my anecdotal experience. No idea how strongly the usage and safety is emphasized in drivers ed here. Does the news even report that much about the seat belt being used or not in crashes like these? Often it seems a lot of articles (at least in English) don’t really provide that information.

Haven’t ridden in a taxi in a while but I remember most of the time in Taiwan when riding in a taxi it was pretty rare to have seat belts that actually worked and often would get told by taxi drivers that it wasn’t necessary for me to put on the seatbelt, although it has been a lot better these past few years.

A lot of those are older vehicles without a working seatbelt… I would think that taxis aren’t allowed to be taxi without a working seatbelt.

There’s no way an Audi has no working seatbelt, especially something that costs so much. Cops do pull people over if seatbelts aren’t worn.

I wonder if the driver tried to launch the car from stationary when the traffic light turned green?

It explains the loud engine sound and why the driver claims he wasn’t going fast before the crash. Also the video seems to show the light just changed (watch the timing of the light turning red).

Maybe he was a way back from the light behind the scooter box and then launched and then car just spun around.

Hard to imagine but with that much power and wet surface I guess anything is possible.

He may have done the same thing many times on dry surface but miscalculated when he slammed his foot on the gas.

At least a few people helped
The couple said they both got some of the blood of the girl on them meaning she was bleeding possibly quite a lot

The airbag is capable of causing fatal injury to someone who is not belted in the front seat
