Auto Checkers [FREE!] Party (& In support of Taiwan Animals)

Hi everyone!
I would very much like to welcome you all to our new garage opening party, which is also in support of the grand efforts of Taiwan Animals S.O.S.

We are really going to have a great evening, and really need your support to make it a super fun night with your presence.

There’s going to be a live band, all you can drink free beer, free wine, pop, and catering supplied by the amazing Pastries Galore. There’s also going to be a fun, motor related quiz with general knowledge questions, including movies, sports, technical, and likely one or two wacky categories.

There is no admittance fee, but we will have a collection box for Taiwan Animals S.O.S. onsite, and although contributions are not mandatory, we would greatly appreciate any kind donations.
Auto Checkers has been key in the renovation and repair of the Taiwan Animals rescue vehicle. Taiwan Animals S.O…S. would be extremely grateful for any funds which can help towards keeping it maintained and road worthy as well as which can help the animals which are in desperate need of their expert care.

Your attendance will be hugely appreciated, so if you can make it, then please contact us A.S.A.P. with your confirmation of attendance as well as number of guests, or post it here, so that we may reserve you a seat for the event.

Mmm. I’m a little surprised actually. It seems so far after tens of emails, and posting here that only one person is interested in attending. I would have thought all you can drink, eat and be entertained would have been enough to muster a crowd, but at this rate I’m going to run the invitations until tomorrow, at which point if I don’t have a good number of attendance, then I’m going to have to pull it.

Come on chaps! Is nobody interested? Did I miss something? Was it the lack of strippers or dancing midgets on the event list?

Yes, you can bring a dog.

The music will be by a foreign band.

I will be taking place bookings until tomorrow but it may be cancelled if attendance is as low as it is right now. So come on guys. Help me with some numbers here. Pretty please!

why is it limited to 60 people and on invitation only? I am not sure what I gonna do on Saturday and I suppose many other people as well, so why not make it open for all? I can understand the supplies are limited but why not sell the food and beer for a lower price instead of making it free and make it open to everyone and walk ins? Maybe make the invitation in Chinese as well…

Finally I can answer. Sorry to be so slow due to me not being able to log in.

The limitation was due to my maximum, physical space allowances. I didn’t wish to have more attend and have people sitting in the street.
It is actually open to all, but as long as I don’t go over sixty.
I don’t want to sell food and beer, because its both a benefit night and a promotional night. If it were for sale, then I’d just open a bar, or a restaurant. I’m trying to make it fun and free! :slight_smile:

This invitation is in English only, mainly because its a cinch to find locals. I already have a good number from just word and mouth, and without having to advertise it. I always wish for foreigners to understand that there is an English standards motor vehicle centre which can deal with their needs.

My hope with Autocheckers was always to promote better cross connections and appreciation for motor safety across driving cultures. I also believe that is kind of what Sean at Taiwan Animals S.O.S. is hoping to achieve in his own way with animals, but I’ll leave him to comment for himself and correct me if I’m wrong. I don’t wish to speak for him.

I understand that this method of advertising may seem odd to some, but as I have tried to explain, there are reasons believe it or not for my seeming madness.

We’re looking forward to this. Should be a great way to kick off the festive season, and all while helping a good cause.

We’ll have an early start in the morning preparing the garage for the onslaught ahead. I think that we’ll have a few people here tomorrow. I’m quite excited about the event, and hope that we can get at least a few pennies for the Taiwan Animal S.O.S. cause, as well as introduce a few people to the new garage.

That was actually really good fun! The food was great, the people were all really nice, and the band were fantastic.

We raised a tidy sum of money to go towards our rescue van costs, and an expat couple I met have decided they might like to adopt a puppy we recently rescued. And everyone at the event knows to mention Seán or Taiwan Animal S.O.S. (or TASOS) when they or their friends employ the services of sulavaca and AutoCheckers for 10 percent of the profits to be donated to our vehicle expense.

And we won the quiz! Enjoying the prize while writing this.

Thanks to everyone who attended, who made it a great event. I really think that band gets better every time I hear them. :bravo:
I think we gave the new garage a good Christening. I’m going to have to wipe up quite a lot of the Christening off the floor tomorrow morning I think. :wink:
It was great actually. Everything’s still all in one piece.
