I love to cook. I’m curious about the avaiability of certain ingredients.
For example:
Cajun cooking: I know I can get things like celery, onions, bell peppers, and most likely crawfish. And of course, flour, oil, and we all know rice will be no problem. How about things like okra, catfish, cayenne pepper, thyme? I suspect I’ll have to bring plenty of my own gumbo file’ powder!
Thai cooking: fish sauce, lemongrass, kaffir lime leaves, green & red curry paste?
Indian cooking: tikka masala powder? Curry powder? Cardamom? Tamarind?

All of the above ingredients are available at the Breeze supermarket. Jason’s in 101 may have them, too. Even some Wellcome’s have a good selection of Thai ingredients these days.
Trinity Superstore (Zhongxiao, Section 5, 137) has all of the above, with the possible exception of the tamarind.
Sorry, the Cajun stuff I’m not too sure about.
Oh, and the places I mentioned above are all in Taipei.
I just got off the plane myself and after a week here I found out how accurate information on the forum can be. Yesterday I went with my wife to the Wellcome Plus supermarket in Lotung, Ilan. It had everything I was told about at pretty fair prices, considering shipment in some cases.
I like other spices myself and the Wellcome Plus has a reasonable variety of Italian spices, also, carried are a number of traditional Chinese hot sauces and spices. I
